My overseas experience has been invaluable in adding benefits to the organisations I work for, by undertaking tasks in operations more efficiently, improved health & safety procedures and practices, working with communities. I continue to research the work done overseas, particularly in the UK and Australia to look for innovation in systems, equipment and methodology that can be introduced to improve performance here. I also communicate with peers around NZ to ensure we take advantage of new home bred ideas and technology.I am good at working with communities and individuals to enlist their support and volunteer hours to help fulfil their desires and the Council's by working in partnership. This has resulted in communities undertaking paid tasks on behalf of the Council plus an "army" of unpaid volunteers working safely.Health and Safety throughout my working life has been key priority. I don't want any of my team being injured at work. This has made my management style focus heavily on working safely and efficiently. At the end of the working day I want them to go home tired and satisfied with their days work with all their "body parts". Even better if we can make the work environment so they are looking forward to tomorrow's challenges.
