Porirua City

Working with Communities and special interest groups to identify and deliver in partnership with the Council, improvements to their Village or the group's objectives. This includes Village Welcome signs, Heritage trails, new footpaths, minor road safety improvements, developing the first dog park in the City, facilitating community gardens, public lighting.

After a major management restructure at PCC, I was tasked with using my knowledge and experience of partnerships with village community groups, local Iwi groups, sports associations and other community groups to ensure that existing and new projects are facilitated and delivered to communities on site. The focus of these projects is very much parks.

Porirua City

A special team was formed by Council following the earthquakes and severe weather event of 14th and 15th November. My role as Recovery Team Customer Liaison Officer is to work with and help the impacted residents in the City. There were over 400 reported events and over 100 of these were slips. It good to have the opportunity to be able help these residents.

To manage the provision of services for the maintenance of the "green spaces" of Porirua and other special projects and initiatives. This included managing the delivery of Parks SLA to the Council by the in-house team, installing $500K of playground renewals, managing the volunteers paid and voluntary working with Council in Parks, managing user groups.

Responsible for the day to day management of a team of 50 with the assistance of 4 excellent supervisors, undertaking the "green maintenance" of Porirua's City Parks & Reserves. This included the management & operation of the Cemeteries & Crematorium, sportsfields & courts, beaches & coasts, native bush and trees, tracks and walkways, biodiversity.

My role at Test Valley was part of Commercial Services Operations at New Forest District Council. It was one of the first innovative "shared" services. Commercial Services was based at NFDC but had officers and operatives from both Councils forming the team.At TVBC I was the manager of the Operations Team and apart from TVBC work including mowing, trees.

At BFBC my final role was Landscape Manager where as a direct labour organisation with a team of 35 we survived Compulsory Competitive Tendering. We were the only section in Environmental Services to survive with the loss of street cleansing and refuse collection to outside private contractors. This was due to having a great team who recognized we had to.
