A man with curiosity, intelligence, and witI owned the Waits River General Store, in West Topsham, VT. I successfully operated that store for 23 years along with my wife, Donna, and son Bobby. This store was the center of the community providing all the basic needs of a community of about 1600 people. We were known for outstanding service, great food, and providing an opportunity for many to have their first jobs. In addition to our food service offerings, we had a unique and extensive wine department. We also sold gasoline, kerosene, propane tanks, animal feeds, and sugaring supplies. We were the village store that offered essential products and entertainment for both permanent residents and tourists Prior to that l worked for a franchisee of McDonald's for 20 years and was Director of Operations of his 12 stores in the Philadelphia market. I also worked for a franchisee as he consolidated his 4 store operation. Stores that I was responsible for earned the highest rating McDonald's offered as well as having the first breakfast offering and Play Park on the East Coast. We also were the training center for the introduction of the Egg McMuffin and original breakfast menu items. In addition to my other responsibilities, I was instrumental in the selection, training, and development of Staff, Management, and prospective Owner/Operators.It is no secret that l enjoy wine. I have no formal education and l am learning wine as I drink it. I am always interested in learning more.
