Bill Phillips has over thirty years of successful senior management experience in the Australian building industry with involvement at the manufacturing, wholesaling, trade and retail levels in the distribution chain. Bill has consistently demonstrated his leadership skills and corporate acumen in growing businesses profitably through the course of his career.The iconic Australian company, A. V. Jennings, was the avenue for Bill’s first introduction to the building industry through the subsidiary Trimview Timber and Hardware. This became Big J Limited, which during its time with Bill as CEO, was the leading supplier of building products, notably timber, into the Victorian builder market.Subsequent roles included General Manager of Bowens Timber and Hardware in Melbourne, General Manager Queensland with Wattyl Paints, National Business Unit Manager for Wattyl’s protective and marine coatings business, National Business Development and Marketing Manager with Wattyl’s Industrial Division, State Manager in both NSW and Queensland with Tilling Timber and East Coast Business Development Manager with Wesbeam Pty Ltd. Bill also spent three years as a partner in a recruitment business.Academically Bill graduated with a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Queensland and subsequently secured a Masters of Administration (exec) from the same university.Through the course of his career Bill has led management teams across multi-site operations involving product development, manufacturing, distribution, administration, marketing and sales. He has developed and implemented strategic business plans and identified and initiated business opportunities into new markets. He has a particular interest in marketing management drawing on his exposure to the retail, trade and industrial markets. While having exposure to the building products markets in all States he has intimate knowledge of these markets along the east coast.
