Professional Experience: After beginning my professional career in corporate public relations in 1983, I re-focused on public policy and government. After graduating from law school in 1994, I worked for Congresswoman Jolene Unsoeld (D-WA) handling health reform and senior citizens issues. Following my time on Capitol Hill, I worked for the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) in Washington, DC, handling congressional and executive branch relations and writing legislative and regulatory updates for EBRI members. After EBRI, I went to work for the US Department of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) in the Office of Policy and Research. In that position I supported the political appointees and senior agency staff with legislative and public policy analyses, congressional testimony, position papers, options papers, and other public policy materials related to EBSA's regulatory and enforcement programs.I currently work for EBSA in Seattle, providing information and assistance to benefit plan participants and plan sponsors regarding ERISA, COBRA, PPACA and other laws that govern employee benefits.Specialties: ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, PPACA.
