From 1961 through 1995 I was in academia as a biologist and chaired departments at UCSB, UConn, and Harvey Mudd College. I retired early in order to pursue other educational ventures including co-founding The Mona Group LLC, which developed and produced CDROMs in support of education in biology. Since the mid 1980s I have been associated with Roger Schank, who heavily influenced my thinking about learning and teaching. I have consulted for a number of clients such as Edvotek, Motorola, and Sinauer Associates, but most of my work has been for Schank's companies, currently Socratic Arts, Engines for Education, and Milomax.
