As a Marketing and Communications intern, I conducted interviews with several blood donors and recipients and produced 90-second audio slideshows of their stories, showing the real, human impact of blood donation. I was also the keynote speaker at the organization’s annual Donor Recognition Celebration and a consultant on Bloodworks’ then-upcoming donor engagement smartphone application.

I write patient, donor, and event stories for Bloodworks Northwest on a freelance basis, using my own experience as a cancer survivor and recipient of over 250 blood donations to relate to interview subjects as someone who has lived a story similar to theirs. I have found that sharing this bond with my interview subjects allows our conversations to reach a depth and a truth that someone without that shared experience would perhaps have a hard time reaching. Degree 37 is a cutting-edge technology company specifically focused on the potential to bring revolutionary data-driven information management systems to the nonprofit blood banking industry. Using data mining methods and technology from successful implementations of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) in business, Degree 37 aims to revolutionize how blood banks - and nonprofits at large - interact with their donors and patients, strengthening relationships with communities and ensuring a stable and sustainable blood supply for the future. In this position, I have:- Crafted critical documents for both internal and external distribution;- Interviewed blood donors and recipients and produced their stories for public consumption in both written and audio formats;- Helped approach industry stakeholders and Seattle-area hospitals for participation in Degree 37's new data-driven donor engagement platforms, including providing feedback to donors on how (and for whom) their blood was used;- Added the perspective of a former cancer patient whose life once depended on blood donors

As a Gallery Receptionist at Oregon’s third-largest art museum, I was visitors' first point-of-contact with the organization and provided a warm welcome to guests. In addition to handling all admission fees, gift shop sales, and processing of new memberships, I also had to be well-versed in both the museum’s permanent collections and its temporary exhibitions, able to answer questions ranging from the location from a particular piece to a good spot for lunch, and help ensure that opening galas ran smoothly. The reason I left this position was to attend graduate school in Eugene.
