I enjoy being involved in a range of activities that are diverse and have people at the heart of it. I have been part of the movie industry which was a wonderful experience and gave me good appreciation of this industry. I have been through a learning process involving Te Reo Maori through full immersion, in other words only Maori is spoken. I have also woked for the Department of Conservation as the Inner Hauraki Gulf operations manager. This was agreat experience and I have learned a lot from this role. Working within the public health sector, in particular Maori infant health (Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy) again has filled my toolbox with experiences in research and initiatives. I know I have made a difference in all my roles. Diverse is probably the right way to describe my previous roles which range from maintaining a helicopter on the back of a ship, running a deployed tented camp in East Timor, being part of the senior management group of a large organisation (Royal New Zealand Airforce), working in Maori Infant Health engaging with health professionals, district health boards and marae, working for the Department of Conservation managing the greatest living space on Earth and rubbing shoulders with high profile. people in the movie industry. I still have an affiliation to the military and enjoy more than ever ANZAC day, especially catching up with old mates. I do also enjoy exercising, something that the military has engrained into me. Then of course there are interests. Rugby League is still a passion and I am a regular follower of the Warriors and the Bull Dogs. International relations interest me, as does wine sipping and going to way out places.
