About Bill Johnson, Faia

Bill Johnson, FAIA, is the design principal for HOK in Kansas City. A founding principal of 360 Architecture, Bill joined HOK when the firms completed their merger in early 2015. Recognized as a leader in the design of sports and entertainment facilities, Bill’s work spans professional, civic and collegiate facilities across the country. His approach is defined by his ability to develop integrated solutions that achieve the unique objectives of each client and contribute to the vitality of the broader community. Over the course of his career, Bill has applied his expertise and design sensitivity to a wide variety of project types, including numerous award winning mixed-use, corporate office and civic projects.Bill’s portfolio of work includes Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and new Atlanta MLS franchise; MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. for the NFL’s New York Jets and Giants; the first retractable-roof ballpark with natural grass at Chase Field in Phoenix; the H&R Block Headquarters in Kansas City, Mo.; and the award-winning Sprint Center arena, designed in conjunction with the eight-block Power & Light District, in Kansas City. He was also the lead designer for the award winning, LEED Gold-certified Sunset Drive Office Building in Johnson County, Kan., which is a model for environmentally responsible civic architecture. Prior to co-founding 360 Architecture, Bill was a principal and director of design for CDFM² and a director of design for Ellerbe Becket. He has Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Environmental Design degrees from the University of Kansas.
