Various independent research roles, primarily in the area of experimental music/sonic arts and music education. In 2016 completed research in conjunction with The Google Cultural Institute, Sound & Music and The British Music Collection to create and curate an online exhibition examining composer-built instruments (British, 1952-present): https://www.google.com/culturalinstitute/beta/exhibit/QRZ74asTWas granted an International Development Grant by Arts Council England in 2016 to undertake research into experimental music/sonic art in Slovenia (Maribor; November 2016, Ljubljana; March 2017). The results of this research are currently being collated and an article is planned for journal publication.

Ryoanji Records is a new label founded in 2021 to release experimental and electroacoustic music.We are signatories of the Keychange Pledge, promising to ensure that at least 50% of all artists on our rosta are women and gender minorities. There is a vast historic and continuing gender disparity within the music industry which seems to be even more pronounced in the experimental/electroacoustic music making genres. We aim to demonstrate, promote and disseminate the huge wealth of talent that exists and to create more opportunities for women and gender minorities in our corner of the music industry.

[UNIT] is a collective of artists presenting flexible, multi-sensory performance. It seeks to redefine traditional, entrenched notions of performance by addressing relationships between space, composer, performer and audience. It seeks to have a democratising effect on music-making, through direct participation of audiences, who affect both sonic and visual elements of the work. [UNIT] encourages involvement from all age groups, and is non-exclusive.[UNIT] produces work drawing on traditional, electronic and experimental musical practice, along with integral live visual art. These different elements impact on and react to each other. The work is presented so that audio speakers and video projection screens surround the audience and performers in a circle, with the performers at the centre of the circle. A multi-sensory environment is created, and audience members presented with a heightened bodily experience.Through this activity the manner in which ‘gigs’ are presented is re-engaged with, being both space-defining and space-reactive, but never space-compromised; the project is able to adapt to different scenarios but not be forced into compromising on the artistic goals set out above. The passivity of the traditional ‘front-facing’ gig is replaced by an actively engaging set-up.www.unitunit.org
