Over see the repair of mud pumps, top drive, drawworks, hydraulic pumps, mud tanks, and related equipment. Inspect drawworks to ensure the optimum working compactly. Inspect derricks for flaws, and supervise the cleaning and oiling derricks in order to maintain proper working conditions. Over see the stringing up of cables through pulleys and blocks. Inspect derricks, or order their inspection, prior to being raised or lowered. Supervise crew members, and provide assistance in training them. Steady pipes during connection to or disconnection from drill or casing. Guide lengths of pipe into and out of elevators. Start pumps that circulate mud through drill pipes and boreholes to cool drill bits and flush out drill-cuttings. Inform crews about the handling of any chemical additives. Operate drawworks and top drive durning tripping or drilling operations. Over see test on Bops and choke manifold. Monitor well durning tripping or drilling operations. Have the knowledge to shut in and kill a well.

Maintain the drilling fluid system, work in the derrick during tripping processes. Assist the other crew members in rigging up or down, picking up and laying down tubulars and other functions related drilling or repair of a well. Over see the repair of mud pump and mud tanks. Mix chemicals assigned by Driller or mud engineer. Line up mixing pumps, transfer mud accordingly.

Assemble and disassemble the bottom hole drilling tool assembly as specified. Assemble drill string onto the bottom hole assembly. Disassemble the drill string by ukn-threading connecting lengths of pipe. Transfer joints of tubular pipe, drill stem, collars and casing to/from the catwalk or pipe rack to/from the drill floor.Perform preventive maintenance and repair on drilling machinery, mud pumps tongs, slips. Assist in the rigging up of well control equipment. Perform duties at shaker and mud tanks such as mixing ingredients and weighing drill fluid, viscosity measure, monitoring pit level for fluid loss or gain from normal signs of gas cut mud, and the fluid system controls. Carry out other activities as assigned by the driller.
