Biplab Sarkar is a Professor at the Department of Management Studies, PES University, Bangalore. He heads the Centre for Business Data Analytics (CBDA) to inspire thought leadership in analytics by facilitating collaboration between scholars, practitioners, and students for solving real-world business problems using data driven techniques and tools.Biplab Sarkar is a Doctorate in Applied Economics from the prestigious Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore under the fellowship programme of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India He has accumulated 18 years of experience in higher education learning models, academic management, and training in both Indian and International Universities. He has demonstrated his skills to deliver in areas that require a multidisciplinary integration, module creation, management of delivery, and diplomatic handling of dynamics. He involved in creating and running innovative and industry relevant courses for management students in business analytics using Python, R, Tableau, and JMP platforms. Successfully instituted the MBA Business Analytics program at PES University starting with 1 course as an open elective to 20+ courses in analytics teaching 1500+ students in the last 4 years. His primary research area is at the intersection between development economics and policy and he extensively uses Quantitative Analytical Methods for his research. Some of the topics he has investigated or is currently investigating are farm product prices and policies, adoption of electric vehicle in India, effectiveness of electric vehicle policy etc. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Transportation Planning and Technology, World Review of Political Economy etc. He was an academic visitor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Florianopolis, Brazil in 2013 and the Kobe University, Japan in 2014. He has also served as a consultant to the Foundation for Agrarian Studies (FAS), leading research organisation on agrarian issues, M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) and World Food Programme (WFP), leading organisation fighting hunger worldwide. He has strong passion for technology and its use in education and for experimental learning component of academic pedagogical models. His passion is to ensure that universities must be in synchronise with international standards and stay updated with latest developments in global education industry.
