Born in Vienna as the daughter of a doctor, the young wildchild with an artistic background - her grandfather on her mother's side is a traveling musician - is on stage for the first time at the age of 5. At 11 Birgit Stauber stages and choreographes her first musical: Cats. Graduates from High School with a grade point average of 1.0After studying musical and directing musical theatre, she makes her TV debut as an actress in 1996 and writes and stages her first musical show in the same year. In 1998 she wins the Rising Movie Talent Award and goes to Los Angeles to study acting with Eric Morris. Birgit Stauber has danced in dance companies, sung musicals and embodied various roles in awarded film, television and commercials - she is known to European audiences for her role as Raven in the action series Wilde Engel.Inspired by Indian films, Birgit studies Kathak (Classical Indian Dance) from 2005-2008. In 2015 she founds the Indie film production company Leyendas (Spanish for "Legends") in Berlin. 
Her love of storytelling is reflected, among other things, in her writing of screenplays: the coming-of-age love story Freak City (hearing teenager wants to get ex-girlfriend back and falls in love with deaf girl) based on the novel by Kathrin Schrocke wins one of four Wim Wenders Scholarships, the feature film had festival participations at Hofer Filmfestspiele 2020 and Max Ophüls 2021. From 2018-2021 Birgit is member of the board of Pro Quota Film, Germany.Birgit Stauber is a member of Equity UK (Acting), the BVR (German Director´s Association) and the Austrian Film Academy.
