• Built leadership capacity and advised on project and organisational management effectiveness• Strengthened the NGO’s capacity to eliminate post-conflict poverty by economically empowering impoverished and vulnerable Timorese, particularly womenAchievements:• Successfully established the business processes, management and emergency procedures for the first (New Zealand Aid funded) Business and Community Centre on remote Atauro Island, and ensured its effectiveness and sustainability• Directly mentored five local staff on a one-on-one basis and managed the work plans of two teams (total of 18 staff) resulting in increased staff performance and exceeding monthly targets which were not being met• Delivered formal project management training to the five Timorese team leaders resulting in noticeable improvements to existing project and programme management practices• Significantly improved the working relationship between the teams in remote Atauro and the Dili head office• Initiated and organised a public Project Management networking meeting to explore establishment of a professional PM community in Dili with the Asia and NZ Chapter of the Project Management Institute

As an Advisory Board Member of the Faculty of Creative Industries and Business Advisory Board, I provided strategic advice on curriculum development, marketing requirements, industry demand, vision development, market research, curriculum evaluations and work opportunities for graduates. I have also delivered a number of guest lectures at postgraduate level about participatory research in indigenous communities.

As part of Auckland's economic growth agency ATEED, I managed a pilot programme and a team to improve the international student experience in Auckland in order to increase international student numbers in Auckland, their contribution to Auckland’s GDP and market Auckland internationally as a study destination. This included targeted events, digital and communication strategy initiatives, the INAKL International Student Ambassador programme, stakeholder engagement and leveraging of major international sports events.As the first milestone, I successfully delivered the INAKL International Student Welcome event and expo with over 30 exhibitors attracting 2400 registered students - see video here:

As a senior member of the International Relations Unit, I managed a portfolio of Auckland Council’s international partnerships (South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Germany and India - main portfolio and assisted with Cook Islands, Tonga and Samoa). I developed economic and cultural initiatives to enhance council’s economic development strategy objectives focusing on economic growth sectors, investment attraction and major events. As part of the role, I facilitated trade and investment opportunities, acted as an advisor and worked in partnership with others across council. I provided support to the mayor and council on international relations and managed mayoral business missions, international enquiries, official visits and study delegations to the city.My role aimed to develop and strengthen local, national and international relationships with key stakeholders, including key business, political and diplomatic leaders; and to influence and input to the strategic direction of Auckland in regard to international relations.Achievements:• Developed and led the first Auckland mayoral-led trade mission to Korea and Taiwan (2012) in partnership with central government. This was the most significant NZ trade mission to Taiwan for a decade and led to tangible business outcomes • Managed the first and second re-signing of the strategic partnership MOU between Auckland and Hamburg (Germany) including stakeholder consultation and benefit analysis • Provided crucial guidance for the establishment of a new business unit following a local government amalgamation in 2010, and successfully managed it as acting manager, including budgets and HR

OMEGA’s Mentoring Programme facilitates occupation-specific mentoring, matching skilled immigrants with business professionals who share the same skills and industry knowledge. As a mentor, I provided weekly advice, support, information and contacts to individual mentees in one-on-one sessions, with the aim of assisting them to obtain employment relevant to their qualifications and experience.

During this secondment, I assisted MFAT with hosting the Pacific Islands Forum in the week marking the opening of the Rugby World Cup, in particular with programme support for the Post Forum Dialogue delegation from the USA.Attended by around 30 delegations led by their Head of State or similar, the Pacific Island Forum is the foremost body for the Pacific region, where Pacific leaders can engage in dialogue with each other and members of the international community.
