Innovative Systems provides compliance and data quality solutions to financial customers around the world. Its flagship product, FinScan, is a market-leading solution providing financial institutions a core component of their Anti-Money Laundering (AML) systems.In the role of SVP of Operations, I was responsible for a variety of teams, including: Professional Services, Customer Success, Hosted Operations, Account Management and Quality Assurance. Key achievements include:Member of the Executive Management Team that set company strategy. Team delivered 67% revenue growth over 4 years while maintain profitability.Integrated and optimized three regional Professional Services groups located in Pittsburgh, London and Mexico City by driving standard practices and tools. Improved ROS in the Professional Service function by 20 percentage points over three years.Moved the QA function from a highly manual testing team to one focused on automated testing. Worked with the SVP of Development to integrate the QA function into the Development team and modernize the entire development process around Continuous Integration.Established a formal User Experience team to focus on usability research and deliver user interaction designs focused on tested user behavior.Revamped the Customer Support group into a fully-capable Customer Success team including the launch of a Salesforce Service Cloud Community Portal.Moved all five regionally-hosted SaaS operations to Microsoft’s Azure platform resulting in improved performance and a 30% reduction in operating costs.Led the Account Management team to two years of exceeding sales targets while maintaining a 93% customer retention rate.Lead the deployment of Salesforce across the Sales organization including CPQ for all quoting activity.

A restructuring focused on improving Eaton’s ability to deliver complex, intelligent systems, moved the software and communications elements of the Software & Meters group into a Center of Excellence reporting to the CTO. The Software & Communications COE is a 55 person team tasked with developing the next generation products and reusable technologies required to drive a global, common communication and software platform across the Electrical Sector. Key accomplishments of the new effort include:Worked closely with Professor Jenna Date of CMU’s Human Computer Interaction department to add Design and Agile processes to the team’s core competencies.Created a dedicated Usability Design team with the charter to improve product and platform usability.Reorganized the development group into several multi-function feature teams consisting of development, test and design skills.Significantly reduced project overhead by moving all new development activities to a Scrum model utilizing 2-4 week sprints.Launched Power Xpert Insight (PXI) software, an easy to use and deploy monitoring solution for power distribution systems. A hardware based companion to PXI will launch in Q4 of 2014.Assembled and led cross functional team to develop Eaton’s Internet of Things (IoT) strategy to allow internal business units to easily offer cloud based services to customers using Eaton’s devices in the field. Effort includes development of several proof-of-concept projects to test the technology that will be deployed in the production system. Production platform expected to launch in 2015.

The Software & Meters business unit was a $30M P&L tasked with profitably delivering differentiation to the Service, Power Distribution and Power Quality divisions of Eaton’s Electrical Group. As the business was primarily an internal supplier (70% of sales were intercompany) the full value of the business as measured in end customer revenue was $50M at 54% ROS. The differentiation is provided by supplying an integrated power quality system consisting of software, connectivity and metering products. Key accomplishments include:Moved the business unit from significant financial loss in 2006 to break even in June 2007. For the 5 fiscal years of 2006-2010, increased revenue by 42% and return on sales from -4% to +21%.Delivered the first 5 products of the PowerXpert® Architecture integrated suite in March 2007. Delivered the remaining products from of the original strategy by June 2009. In 2010, 57% of the group’s revenue was from new, PowerXpert® products.Responsible for 10 person dedicated sales team responsible for selling Software & Meter products and Systems Integration Services.In initially establishing the group in 2005, brought together 4 separate product lines in 5 US locations and focused them on developing a single, integrated suite of products serving the entire Electrical Group of Eaton.Realigned the locations for efficiency and reduced cost, by consolidating into two locations in the US and opening a new location in Pune India. During this process, raised the Employee Engagement index at the remaining locations by over 15%.

Directed the operation of seven software development centers around the world including China, Germany, Canada and the United States. Total budget of $27M, supporting 340 technical personnel.

Responsible for the creation and execution of the key growth strategy necessary for Rockwell Software to successfully enter the information-centric markets within the larger manufacturing sector. Strategy included both small, targeted acquisitions and internal developments.Selection and integration of the two initial acquisitions in the growth strategy.Development of comprehensive commercial and product marketing programs to launch new strategic business including, sales collateral, sales training programs, advertising campaign and key influencer communication program.P&L responsibility for development, marketing, and services team of 85 people, with annual revenue of $9M.

P&L responsibility for a development and marketing team of 38 people and budget of $3.4M.Grew external sales from $750k in 1994 to $8.7M in 1998.Developed a product strategy to fit the Rockwell Software Architectural Model to ensure seamless integration across all products. Delivered the first software component used throughout Rockwell Automation.

Cimflex Teknowledge provided shop floor information solutions to manufacturing clients (UNIX/Oracle based technology). Majority of business came from significant contract with Ford Motor Company. Initially founded as a custom system development business serving the discrete manufacturing market. In 1989, began strong move into the emerging MES product segment.Responsible for the product direction and market message as core technology from the Custom Systems business was migrated toward a comprehensive Manufacturing Execution System (MES) product.
