I didn’t always want to be an engineer. At one point, I wanted to be a graphic designer. That was until I got my first chemistry set and realized that I wanted to be a mad scientist and eventually settled on becoming a Chemist. It wasn’t until my junior year in high school that I did some research (thanks, Mom!) about Chemists to gain a full understanding of what pursuing a career in Chemistry could look like for me. In the process, I came across Chemical Engineering and delved into what the profession was all about. Since that day, I knew that Chemical Engineering was what I wanted to do.In 2022, I graduated from the illustrious North Carolina A&T State University. I started as a Rotational Engineer with Ingevity, where I gained experience working as a project engineer on our performance materials side of the business and a production engineer on the performance chemicals side. NC A&T taught me the importance of showcasing value and creativity in my work. Choosing to participate in a rotational program allowed me access to a diverse group of people, which aided in improving my communication skills, especially when it came to projects that I oversaw. Some of those projects did not go the way I thought they would. I had to learn how to adjust and hold responsible parties accountable, whether it be a colleague, contractor, or myself, to keep things on pace. Now that I have completed the rotational program, I am moving to the Pavement Markings business to work as a production engineer supporting all four of its sites. I am excited to utilize the process, production, engineering, maintenance, and reliability experience I’ve gained over the last two years to help shape and further define this role into one that will aid in Ingevity’s core values.Let’s connect! I’m always eager to meet new professionals. I look forward to connecting with you!
