Thesis title: Integration of olfactory and gustatory information in Schistocerca americana• Investigated integration of olfactory and gustatory stimuli in third order neurons using in vivo extracellular (twisted wire, single sensillum) and intracellular recordings (sharp, patch clamp) in locusts. • Developed rapid (50ms) odorant-tastant delivery system, optimizing data collection and system performance.• Traced neurons using immunohistochemistry and confocal imaging, aligning them to a standardized brain model with the Computational Morphometry Toolkit in Linux.• Analyze spike rate and membrane potential changes and visualize data using MATLAB

• Studied olfactory receptor neuron dynamics with dynamic stimuli using in vivo extracellular single sensillum recording• Developed a computational model to analyze and quantify neuronal response motifs, utilizing machine learning techniques such as SVM classifiers, clustering, and regression to contribute to the understanding of sensory coding.

Thesis Title: Characterization of Electrodes for Kilohertz Electrical Stimulation• Designed, fabricated, and tested nerve cuff electrodes for Kilohertz Electrical Stimulation (KES).• Contributed to a licensing agreement with Microprobes for the commercial development of peripheral cuff electrodes.
