In October 2013, while working at Conservice, I was tasked with creating a prototype data warehouse. With no prior knowledge of data warehousing and with little guidance I was able to create a small, but successful, data mart using Ralph Kimball's methodologies. The single multidimensional dataset that I was able to create from this data mart is now used by company executives on a daily basis. This short experience has opened my mind to a new world of possibilities, and I am still extremely excited about the prospect of using data to enhance people's lives.I then worked in the IT department at Micron Technology, where I was able to leverage those skills learned to build and maintain timely, accurate ETL systems that enable business users to access the data necessary to develop and build world-class memory devices that are used in everything from computers and smartphones to connected automobiles. I was also part of the Big Data project team that is working to implement both Hadoop and Teradata environments to further leverage the mountain of data collected by our manufacturing processes and turn it into useful, insightful, actionable information. And now at Lamb Weston I have the opportunity to use some of those skills to implement a cloud-first Enterprise Data Warehouse using Amazon Web Services. Our team is uniquely positioned as we transition off our legacy mainframe appliance to provide outstanding customer service to our business users during the transition and assist them by building an even better warehouse environment that can be used to gain valuable market insights for years to come.A few tenets I live by:-Never give up.
