Utilized a combined synthetic and machine learning approach to search for novel super-hard materials contributing to ongoing approach to create a discovery workflow for predicting Vicker's hardness at various applied loads using machine learning. Selected non-oxide materials were synthesized via arc melting and characterized using powder x-ray diffraction and Vicker's micro-indentation. Research results were present informally on a weekly basis with advisor and presented formally to entire research group 3-4 times per year.

Prepared metal alloys and oxides by acid dissolution for analytical analysis via inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) as they were pulled from various points in the refinery process. Interpreted and reported major and minor elemental contents from testing to ensure analytical and product standards were being met. Also responsible for general laboratory cleanliness and maintenance checks of eye wash stations and safety showers on a weekly basis.
