I spent a decade in the classroom, first as a substitute teacher, then special education aide, and finally as a classroom teacher. During this time, I developed a real talent for building connections with my students and meeting the needs of the whole child beyond what a test score can measure. I also realized our children are coming to school with traumatic stress beyond what a classroom teacher can handle alone. After earning my Master’s in Trauma-Informed Education, I decided to see how else I could apply this knowledge. As a Prevention Education Coordinator with the South Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force, my job is to: ✅ Coordinate the South Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force’s prevention education initiative through partnerships with schools and other youth serving organizations ✅ Develop and coordinate Train-The-Trainer Program for the curricula. ✅ Conducts research and gathers information pertaining to the human trafficking field for training purposes. ✅ Serves as a liaison to state work groups, stakeholder meetings, and other state and local initiatives.
