As a Police Officer and Detective I have seen and endured a lot of situations and showed leadership in a variety of incidents and case types as well as conducting business as a scene commander. During my years as a Detective I managed in excess of 40 cases at one time. Cases ranged from simple theft to death investigations and more specifically for my case load was financial crimes, utilizing bank security, subpoena process, document review and court presentation. Most importantly what I have learned from this career is that death strikes at any age, anytime and anyone, unfortunately many times and most often my discussion with a widow, widower, parent, child or significant other was the fact that they were NOT prepared for the unexpected loss and more often than not families did not have adequate life insurance coverage. Many times the interview with the family resulted in "how are we going to pay for this? he/she was only 22 or he/she was only 45 we didn't expect this. after dealing with these incidents for almost 13 years, and working with families who had lost 18 month old children to families finding an elderly loved one passed at 85 years old and many, many more in between. I chose to use my career and life to reach out to people and educate people on what most certainly and imminently will happen.
