Designing the next generation of Pixel hardware, from concept to production.- Pixel 9 Pro XL (Aug 2024 Launch)

Course Assistant for Engr 210: Perspectives in Assistive Technology. The class explores the medical, social, ethical, and technical challenges surrounding the design, development, and use of technologies that improve the lives of people with disabilities and older adults. My role involved assisting the lecturer with course logistics, mentoring teams throughout quarter-long projects, and teaching design methodology in its application to the unique and individualized challenges of people living with disabilities.

I worked on modeling ultrasound molecular imaging using Matlab and neural networks (TensorFlow) to generate a safer, more efficient way to detect bound microbubbles with Ultrasound. This research has applications regarding clutter suppression and phase aberration correction. In particular, these techniques can be applied to develop a more accurate diagnostic tool for the identification of cancerous tumor growth.

From the start, this position required self-sufficiency and a desire to learn - whether through teaching myself valuable skills like Python, how to write machine learning algorithms with Nilearn libraries, and how to utilize various fMRI analysis techniques through FSL. I also learned how to work with Sherlock, Stanford's High-Performance Computing Cluster. I developed several scripts that differentiate between patients with CLBP and healthy controls based on fMRI data, using techniques such as Connectivity Analysis, Nested Cross Validation, and Searchlight Analysis. Our abstract was presented at the 24th Annual Conference of Human Brain Mapping in Rome (June 2019), and our work is being applied in a future paper – Evaluation of Resting State Functional Connectivity Classification Pipelines for Chronic Back Pain.

I worked at the intersection between biomechanics and ergonomics to influence design changes in hardware. Specifically, I designed and ran two experiments that analyzed how we perceive the weight of handheld devices based on properties like size, mass, and throwability. This cross-functional role lies within the Windows + Devices Design team.

I was a summer intern here between 2014 and 2017. On the job, I compiled and submitted a research paper for publishing and organized accompanying experiments in order to analyze and prove the reoccurring failure of vent fan components. Also, I analyzed and logged evidence for further case studies. In order to document evidence, I was trained in using the Scanning Electron Microscope and Keyence Imaging Technology.

I was involved in a highly competitive summer immersion program studying cardiovascular anatomy and physiology as well as various medical and surgical techniques. Over the course of two months, I learned basic suturing and dissecting skills and performed a successful coronary artery bypass graft on a porcine heart. Outside of the wet lab, I compiled data for an exploratory presentation and research paper on theoretical gene therapy solutions to congenital heart defects.
