Additionally, I gained experience conducting legislative research and studied the process of mental health advocacy.The internship will provide the student with first-hand experience supporting government and corporate affairs work. You may be asked to assist in the development of advocacy materials; monitor, track, and summarize legislation; perform legal/legislative research, review, and writing tasks; and assist staff with general government affairs projects.

Taught coping skills and provided extra support to children with conditions such as autism and ADHD according to implementation plans supervised by case managers and behavior specialists. Helped parents understand and manage their child’s mental health diagnoses at home, as well as with the teachers and other staff at their school. Recorded data on the child’s behaviors and submitted documentation outlining details of the treatment sessions.

Taught classes about coping skills and real-world problems to individuals with mental health diagnoses. Hosted training sessions for fellow staff educating them on severe mental illnesses they encounter at work every day. I also led administrative duties and received the Rising Star Award, recognizing me as an employee who took several initiatives to go beyond the scope of their role.
