An AAMFT Approved Supervisor Candidate is a marriage and family therapist who is in the process of obtaining full Approved Supervisor status with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. This individual is actively engaged in completing the required training, supervision, and practical experience to meet the rigorous standards set by AAMFT. The candidate focuses on fostering a supportive and educational environment for supervisees, emphasizing collaboration, ethical practice, and professional development. This ensures that both the candidate and their supervisees adhere to the highest standards within the marriage and family therapy profession.

The therapist will conduct assessments and provide community-based therapy and case management to adults. May conduct initial assessments for clients with serious and persistent mental health issues and connect them with a higher level of care. Will provide assistance and support to mental health consumers in crisis situations; service coordination activities, with or on behalf of a client; psycho-educational and support activities for clients and their families and/or natural supports as appropriate; rehabilitative and independent living skills; and symptom monitoring and management skills. Duties also include the assessment and reassessment of the client’s need for services; informing the client about benefits, community resources, and services; assisting the client in accessing benefits and services; arranging for the client to receive benefits and services.
