Britt Hall is a Vice President of Product, Digital Optimization at Optimizely. Colleagues describe them as "Britt and I have worked closely supporting one of the largest customers at Kapost. Her main responsibility on the project was to build out a persona-based training plan that could be scaled for a Fortune 500 company with more than 400,000 employees. Throughout multiple on-site visits to this company’s headquarters and throughout months of calls with our customers, I got to see first-hand how Britt works with clients, thinks through large projects, and manages her workload. The most important thing I can say about Britt is that she has an effortless ability to come across as both approachable/affable while being a consummate professional who commands respect with the depth of her knowledge. She speaks with ease in front of customers and can moment-to-moment pivot based on their needs and demands, while at the same time integrating information in real time. This last point is extremely important because I have seen people in the past who have a great personality with customers but few of these people can also take in the information those customers are giving them while managing the conversation. I have been in the room while Britt has had a joking and friendly conversation with a group of stakeholders only to stand up and a white board and sketch out a solution to the problem they were presenting based on her understanding of their needs coupled with her superior product knowledge. Throughout the couple of months engagement, Britt built out a tiered “persona based” training plan along with the materials needed to train those individuals based on how they would use our product and what their day-to-day role needs were. Her final plan spanned more than ten different personas including executive levels, management levels, administrators of the system, and multiple different day-to-day personas based on their use cases. When presented to the client, they were extremely excited by what Britt had created and had almost no changes to her initial deliverable. Moreover, unbeknownst to our client, Britt had managed to build a plan that could be leverage across future clients with little change. Thus, she had managed to use the time allotted to this project to build out a deliverable that made the customer extremely excited, but she also had the wherewithal to make her plans fungible to future uses. This outcome speaks to how Britt always works. She tends to play a chess game where she is always delivering outcomes that are at least one move beyond what people expect or have asked of her. She has an uncanny way to anticipating needs and providing more than a manager or project manager like myself asked of her. Wherever Britt goes she will be an asset to the team that hires her. She is a leader within our organization and will quickly become a leader wherever she goes.
