I grew up on a dusty gravel road in Arkansas. I didn't enjoy the constraints of public school and had difficulty making friends, so my folks got me involved in a youth organization called 4-H. It was there that I discovered that I could learn about whatever I liked, such as photography and computer science. I even participated in international exchange programs. Because of these experiences, I started my own photography business in junior high, learned how to program computers and eventually found my way to Japan where I spent the last 30 years working in both private and public education, teaching preschool level through university level. This spring I retired from my education career in Japan and moved back to Arkansas to care for aging parents and to assume the role of president in Hylton Family Enterprises, Inc. I am also excited to give back to the community as a Director of Angel Tree, a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation serving the needs of widows and fatherless children in Northwest Arkansas.
