Dr. Broderick Turner (PhD – Northwestern University) co-founded the Technology, Race, and Prejudice (T.R.A.P.) Lab (jointhetrap.com), he is an assistant professor of marketing at Virginia Tech and also a Business in Global Society Fellow at Harvard Business School. His main research area focuses on the intersection of marketing, technology, racism, and emotion. His academic research has been published twice in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences the Journal of Marketing, and Current Opinion in Psychology. He and his fellow Trappers are pushing the boundaries on understanding how race and racism underlie many consumer and managerial decisions.As an educator and advisor, Professor Turner aims to create a judgment-free, excuse-free environment where students and business leaders can engage with the bleeding-edge of community-centered marketing research, and learn from each other. One of the guiding principles of his research, teaching, and advisory is “Tech won’t save us. We save us.”When not doing research, teaching or advising, you can find Professor Turner obsessively following the NBA, struggling to keep up with his wife at Orange Theory, tracking down limited-edition sneakers and vintage workwear (size XXLT), or creating art.
