Ben Cruachan was the 100th munro (a Scottish mountain over 3,000 feet) that I climbed, and the experience of climbing mountains has taught me valuable lessons about how to overcome the many challenges that startups face on the way to the top – the detailed planning you need for all potential scenarios, the resilience you need, the ability to adapt in the face of changing conditions, the clear focus on a goal, and the need break that goal down into achievable targets.

Spent 12 months on a part time secondment to the Scottish Investment Bank, managing a portfolio of 25 high growth equity investments. During this time I managed the exits of Mpathy Medical Devices Ltd to Coloplast A/S for £22m and Memex Technology Ltd to SAS Inc which achieved significant returns on investment on behalf of SE.
