Infrastructure Policy and Planning Division (Transportation Files) May 2011 – August 2011 (Co-op work term) January 2012 – May 2012 (Co-op work term)● Employed different research methods, using government archives and databases to provide funding justification for infrastructure and transportation projects.● Introduced ArcGIS tools to the department, to analyze, simulate and present findings, enabling the team to have complete, reliable and easily understood information for meetings, presentations and press conferences. General-purpose maps were previously used to show funded projects. ● Customized map projections to better demonstrate funding requirements and resource constraints.● Gathered information to address ad-hoc inquiries during meetings, in a quick and accurate fashion.● Implemented an electronic repository using an access database to track Ministry of Infrastructure funded projects, replacing an existing paper based system. ● Responsible for the daily compilation and distribution of daily news summaries of all relevant transit news affecting the department using various search engines to locate relevant information and encapsulate the data into an easily readable format.● Reviewed excel budget and forecast submissions for accuracy.● Made effective use of French skills to translate project notes and documents; saving the department team time and expense since all government files need to be available in both official languages.
