Senior Manager, Commercial Programs
Within the Bureau of Recycling and Sustainability, I started as a key member of a team that designed, implemented, and evaluated a 2 year pilot food waste collection program. I was then promoted to develop and lead a new commercial recycling program for the Department. In this role, I assisted in drafting new rules and policies that impact over 400,000 businesses. I also designed a comprehensive outreach and education program to implement the new rules and policies. As part of this effort, I designed an evaluation process and continuously used this process to improve the efficiency of the program. I managed a team of outreach specialists and worked with other city agencies, business groups, elected officials, and private businesses in a resource constrained environment.

Within the Bureau of Recycling and Sustainability in New York City's Department of Sanitation (DSNY), I spent the first year with DSNY building the process for recruiting, evaluating, and enrolling buildings with 10 or more units into the city's pilot Organics Collection Program. I was also responsible for interfacing with the public and elected officials at numerous community district meetings, town hall type settings, and panel discussions. As part of the 5 person Organics team, I was responsible for providing input on program policies and public outreach materials, collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, and planning future program expansions. In late 2014, I successfully transitioned my hi-rise recruitment and enrollment responsibilities to a colleague and began working on policy and analysis for DSNY's commercial programs.
