Amplified Studios is a recording studio with services for musicians. These services include artist development, videography, photography, podcasting, voiceovers, rehearsals, lessons, mixing/mastering, and live sound. We developed our services based on creating an affordable one stop shop for musicians. We also have an open mic every Wednesday 7-10 where we showcase local singer/songwriters as well as bands and individual performers. The studio is a business incubator for the San Diego area. We find young people who are in the industry and they write a business plan and then create a business within the studio which supports our client base. Our employees learn how to be enterprenuers by being responsible for a sector of the business. I bring my 34 years of experience at Instrumart to Amplified Studios, and have created a teaching environment whereby our people learn by doing to create their own business within a business.

I sold the company June 2022 to Flow Control Group, which is owned by KKR. Flow Control Group is a conglomeration of 70 companies involved in flow and other technologies with Instrumart acting as it's principal company. I chose to sell to FCG because I'd known the CEO, David Patterson, for years, and he pledged to take the company and make it grow and add to headcount to facilitate Instrumart's expansion. I'm happy to say David has been true to his word and the company is doing better than it ever has. Brian Leffler is still president of Instrumart and, on top of his duties running the company, has taken on a role within the group to impliment e commerce to the group companies. On a personal level I'm very pleased to have left on top 34 years after starting the company. My legacy within Instrumart, along with our management team, had been to delegate as much as possible to open doors for everyone in the company and, at the end, I delegated myself out of a job. I'm very happy running Amplified Studios, a startup music industry incubator with it's core business being recording. I've got a great hard core of people who are as dedicated to the studio as everyone at Instrumart was to it, so I'm still in business, working a brand new entity, and couldn't have chosen a better field to go into. I've been a professional musician for 50 years and I'm now in a business ruled by passion and propelled by dreams and creativity.

Chicago style blues band, playing only the finest establishments in SoCal (more like dives, blues bands get no respect in nice places). Great bunch of musicians, Star is a pro singer who has played with some of the greats in the blues scene. I'm doing mostly organ and piano, some horns and havin a blast. I come home after a gig, which involves 8 hours of packing equipment, moving it all, setting it up, playing for four hours, breaking it down, in the truck, back home with about $60. to $100. My wonderful bride Charlie is sometimes up waiting for me and I present her with three to five crumpled 20's for the cookie jar. She just looks at me and says "keep your day job Bob".
