Bob Clark is a retired, successful engineer and businessman with forty years experience planning, developing and implementing projects and business in Canada and overseas. Today, Bob operates a consultancy offering high value services to clients planning or engaged in the development and/or construction of major capital projects; whether as Operator, Partner or Investor. He is the author of a detailed and objective study into the causes and quantification of cost and schedule challenges that plague mega projects in the tar sands industry. This work has been recognized for its insight and is lauded for its applicability to all mega projects.Bob’s career has included executive roles with oil companies and engineer/constructors and he has held directorship positions in several companies. He has been active in professional, industry and charitable associations and holds a First Class Honours Degree in Engineering. He was admitted to the Institution of Civil Engineers as a Chartered Engineer in 1974 and has held memberships in the Professional Engineering Associations of Alberta, Ontario, British Columbia and the North West Territories. He recently completed the development and negotiation of approximately $1 billion of contracts on behalf of a Canadian oil company with international contractors, including EP services, EPCM services and LS EPC contracts. He has completed the development, design and construction of a first in class, $6 billion grass roots Tar Sands production and upgrading facility. Spanning a total of eight years, this included 3 years based at the site.
