Participated in contract negotiations, and prepared for and partook in grievance hearings when necessary. Reviewed and revised the work rules for supervised departments and reviewed the bid process and saved taxpayers $100,000 by changing gas contracts.

Supervised, managed and directed a small union bargaining unit in all aspects of public works duties, including snow-plowing, building maintenance, drainage issues, road repair and paving, and bridge maintenance. Managed to come in under budget four years in a row even under reduced operating funds all four years. Reduced snow-removal overtime pay by 50 percent since my initial year, despite very difficult winters. Implemented work efficiencies to insure high quality delivery of services despite a 25 percent reduction in the work force. Developed bid specifications for preventive building maintenance, including boiler and emergency generator cleaning, pest control, fire alarm testing, and septic cleanings. Supervised contractors during construction jobs to insure specifications were met. Effectively responded to emergencies, including a school roof collapse.

Administered city department, encompassing oversight of 33 playgrounds, 20 buildings, 10 major parks, 5 walking tracks, a bike path, a municipal pool and numerous recreation sites and fields. Managed an operating budget of $1.9 million and came under budget annually for four years. reviewed and prioritized capital projects, including a $1.7 million project at Briggs Farms. Supervised 20 union employees and oversaw 100 summer employees.
