Oversaw and managed the horizontal drilling in the Haynesville and Cotton Valley areas in the East Texas and North Louisiana, the Wolfcamp play in West Texas, the Eagle Ford play in South Texas, and conventional drilling (10,500’ to 15,600’) in the Altamont area of Utah. Responsible for the engineering, cost control, safety concerns, and the day-to-day operations on the rigs in these different drilling areas with 4 drilling engineers, 2 superintendents, and 40 drilling supervisors. Mentor younger engineers on drilling and completions operations and engineering, plus the training of junior engineers in drilling / completion engineering techniques (3 new engineers every 5 months). Have successfully drilled 7,500’ laterals in the Haynesville area, 9,900’ laterals the Wolfcamp and Eagle Ford areas. Lowered the drilled days in Utah from 25 days to 12 days. Improved the drilling days in the Wolfcamp-Eagle Ford wells from 20 days down to 6 days, thru simplification and repeatability of well design in all areas. Have been able to lower the drilling cost from $335/ft. to $80/ft. by reducing drilling days on the horizontal wells. Work daily with the completion, geological, reservoir, and regulatory team members to achieve the company goals for successful wells.
