Duties Included:Pacific Power;The asset ownership management of Vales Point Coal Handling Plant. The position duties included day to day operation and maintenance, specification writing, contractor management, whilst coming up with innovative strategies to improve availability whilst driving down cost and achieving budget. Active participant of industry Technical PanelsHighlights: Introduction of Soft Starter to replace costly fluid couplings. (had to convenience professors that it was possible and would not burn out motors) The motors to date of writing, have excess of 80,000 hrs. without a loss of a motor and a $300K PA cost reduction.Development of a laminar flow chute and leading onto hood and spoon designs for soft flow by keeping the product on the chute with limited impact through the chute to eliminate blockages and impact issues to the receiving conveyor.Introducing GUI interface and PESI system to replace push button operation improving functionality and plant safety.The introduction of a Coalscan Moisture and Ash device to monitor coal moisture and ash content to measure critical changes in the product for operational change management for product throughput.Participating in a team with the feeder mine to eliminate excessive moisture in the coal. The outcome was outstanding in the reduction in moisture and block outs and the team won a NSW industry award of excellence.

Duties Included;Providing expertise for the Coal Plant and Ash and Dust Plant, comprising technical reviews and advice to all stakeholders of the plants whilst maintaining records.Writing specification for tenders and providing project management. Assisting the mechanical engineer with budgeting and delivering timely reports on the plants availability and condition.Liaising with plant planners and coordinators to achieve maintenance and operational outcomes.

Duties Included;Power station maintenance which included shutdowns and major projects

Duties Included;Manufacture of specialist earthmoving equipment for major road construction. Including articulated high speed vibratory road rollers, high speed line markers , floating wharfs and movable medium strips.

Duties Included;Mould & die manufacture and destructive testing of products that were cast into the moulds. Reviews carried out of the mould manufacture and casting for constant improvement for the quality assurance and product development.

Duties Included ,Exothermic welding of earthing bus bars and cables at Vales Point units 5&6 construction , Experience was gained whilst at Erico. This style jointing was a relatively new method and was given the task of heading up and mentoring the cable jointing crews at Vales Point.

Duties Included;Tool making and design exothermic moulds, destructive testing of exothermic welded sections. Also development processes for manufacture of kick-less cables.

Boiler Instrumentation installation on Unit 7 & 8 Also included steam feed pump and alignment, mills and ID fan installations.

Duties included:Machining moulds, spun casting, machining , fitting of manufactured components in brass, bronze, copper, aluminium and white metal.
