I am the head of the software architecture group for the insurance arm of Oracle's Financial Services Global Business Unit. Our team is responsible for setting the direction of future development in policy administration, underwriting, rating and new business.

Responsible for leading the multi-year development effort to add group insurance administration functionality to the Oracle Insurance Policy Administration system.In the Chief Architect role and in close collaboration with key business personel within Oracle and in the Group Insurance industry, I designed the user interface and functional modules needed to support group structures and processes. In the manager role, I had twenty-four direct reports that included business analysts and java developers in the U.S. and java developers in our office in India.

* Responsible for overall design and architecture of the Java based insurance policy administration system (PAS).* Designed and created PAS calculation engine utilizing java code created and compiled on demand from user written XML syntax.* Responsible for creating and delivering presentations explaining the system architecture. The presentations range from high level business oriented to detailed technical explanations.* Responsible for creating and implementing AdminServer's software development lifecycle.

Worked for many different companies in a variety of software development roles. Industry experience includes insurance, financial, utility and law.Wrote code for an underwriting system using DDE to communicate between the system (SqlWindows) and Microsoft Word and Excel. Served as advisor for installing the system at several clients. Co-wrote a user interface framework for rewriting the system in Visual Basic. Enhanced the system to be able to use an expert system. Designed and wrote the rules for parts of the system, including: underwriter assignment and jet issue.Created a programming framework in SqlWindows for use by the institutional investment group of a major investment company.Created code to translate documents in RTF format to SGML for a large publisher.

As a consultant to a large paper company, lead a team of 10+ PC developers to produce a Windows based user interface for an order entry system using multiple mainframe back ends. This $4 million dollar project utilized many new technologies not only for the PC interface but also for the new ways being developed for communicating between the systems.

Responsible for the development of a Windows based user interface linking three different mainframe applications for order entry and customer maintenance.
