As one of the Ambassadors to The Caregiver Space, I welcome many of the new folks to the site as their "First Contact." Through an informative welcome letter from me, they learn how to navigate the site to include many of the new features, which are incorporated into our New and Innovative Website that will launch soon by The Caregiver Space. Currently it's estimated that there are over sixty-five million caregivers in the United States. We are the caregiver's for the caregiver's in that we have a vast network of resources that help caregiver's that are experiencing problems, have questions, or just looking for someone to talk too. We can't always fix their problem, but we can guide them in the direction they need to go, in order to find a solution or helpful suggestion on how to deal with their problem or situation. But we are and we offer so much more than that.

Update: 30 June 2014: On June the 7th, 2014, I was honored to be a guest speaker at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's (Kansas Chapter) Man and Woman of The Year Awards. With me was a signed Author Copy of "Because of Annie." I knew getting up in front of 540 folks that had been partying for a couple hours and in a very festive mood, would be difficult. When the big moment came, I walked up on the stage, held up a beautiful 8x10 picture of Annie and simply asked a question, "do I look like I am dying." Those words silenced the crowd, and from that point on all went well. Because of Annie received $2,100 in donations to blood cancer, and then sold at auction for another $1,000. $3,100 was donated to blood cancer. By that point I was an emotional wreck. The story behind the picture~~it was taken on the way back from Catalina Island 2 months to the day she received her prognosis of 3 weeks. She looked a bit tired but very good. I told the audience that this picture was a cancer trap. Annie had been experiencing bone pain for over a year, saw many specialist, but not an oncologist. She simply caught the medical field off guard. Food for thought, "just because you look good, doesn't mean you're not sick." "Do not get caught in that trap." Because of Annie is a very educational book when navigating the world of being a caregiver and cancer. Remember, they do not come with instructions. Because of Annie provides a road map through the unknown side of cancer and care giving. When a loved one is frightened, it's probably from the overwhelming fear of the unknown. Our epic battle lasted 30 months, which gave me the time to initially make some mistakes, learn from them, and move forward with confidence. It took the fear out of the unknown, and that is important to our loved ones. This book is about guiding and helping others through my mistakes and triumph's. Every person, place, thing or event in this book is real. As it happened~where it happened.
