Having devoted his career to creating places for kids, families, and communities to play, learn, compete, and connect with the outdoors, Bob heads Wight’s Parks & Recreation practice. He has led clients and teams through comprehensive master planning processes and the design and construction of over $20M of spaces for both active and passive recreation. From indoor facilities, athletic fields and complexes to play environments, trails, and unique uses such as skate parks, Bob knows what matters to recreation providers as they develop and implement their capital improvements programs. As a collaborator who delivers inventive and cost-conscious solutions, he has helped secure over $10M in funding for his clients.

While at Hitchcock Design Group, Bob planned, designed and managed all types of park and recreation projects. He prepared over twenty Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Grants, providing clients with over $10 million in funding. His passion for sports was used to design athletic facilities that improved visitor and play satisfaction while also enhancing the recreation opportunities for all users. His commitment to integrating the newest techniques and applications in design of athletic and competitive fields provided unique value to his clients. Bob also managed a number of comprehensive planning projects in Illinois, Indiana, Florida and North Dakota, which included detailed analysis, needs assessments of existing park and recreation facilities and prioritized implementation plans.
