Bob King founded Humanscale in 1983 and has since served as CEO. Humanscale is the leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance ergonomic products that improve the health and comfort of work life. Magazine selected Humanscale as one of the ten most innovative companies worldwide in their annual issue celebrating individuals and organizations that “drive design.” In 2011, he received the Museum of Arts and Design 2011 Visionaries Award in recognition of leadership in design and commitment to environmental sustainability. Humanscale products have been recognized and honored with prestigious design awards including but not limited to 2022 iF Design Award for the Path Chair, 2019 iF Design Excellence Award for the Nova Task Light, and multiple reddot Awards for lighting, seating, and sit-stand products.Designing with a focus on function, simplicity, and longevity, Humanscale aligns with its commitment to making a planet positive impact on the earth. With a long history of leading the way for others in the furniture industry, Humanscale pioneered transparency with Declare and HPD-environmental labels, which have now gained significant traction within the industry. Humanscale recently pioneered the manufacturing of the industry’s first carbon negative products, now 75% of all products are certified as such by Living Future Institute. 

Conducting business across the globe in over 40 countries, Humanscale maintains three manufacturing facilities in North America in addition to its manufacturing presence in Europe and Asia, all of which are Zero-Waste-to-Landfill certified by TRUE.
