I oversee the expanding and evolving editorial content on CFR's digital platforms, including podcast and video products as well as explainer franchises such as Backgrounders and In Briefs. Our mission continues to focus on creating authoritative and timely resources that help readers navigate the international issues of the day.

I supervise production of a wide range of digital content, including Backgrounders, Expert Briefs, interviews, interactives, and video on foreign policy developments for CFR.org, the web site of the Council on Foreign Relations. I also co-host the weekly "World Next Week" podcast.

I managed the day-to-day content flow of a group of journalists who transformed CFR.org. They produced Backgrounders, interviews, podcasts, short analysis aggregators on breaking news, and a range of interactive multimedia.I also was responsible for covering U.S. foreign policy trends by writing Backgrounders and conducting interviews, including the biweekly "Washington Interview" with powerful policymakers and Washington-based diplomats. I also guided the web site's special coverage of the foreign policy dimensions of the 2008 presidential election.

Covered White House and congressional policymaking as it related to the RFE/RL broadcast area, especially Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran. Interviewed top officials on Kosovo, Millennium Challenge Corporation, human rights, and counter-terrorism policy.

Covered UN developments of significant interest to departments broadcasting to Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Balkans, Russia, and the Caucasus states. Major stories included the UN mission in Afghanistan before and after the 9/11 attacks, the Security Council debates over military action in Iraq and oil-for-food program controversy, human rights in Iran and Central Asia, and peacekeeping in Georgia and Kosovo.

I guided the 24-hour central news operation through its transfer from Munich, Germany to Prague, Czech Republic. This included helping recruit most of a 30-person staff, training new staff, and creating new editorial links with 20-plus broadcast services. In Prague, I helped found the English-language web site of RFE/RL, opening up a new channel for the top notch news and analysis the newsroom provided for broadcasters.

I worked in RFE/RL's central newsroom, writing and editing copy on global news developments for broadcasters to use in their hourly newscasts. From 1993 to 1995 my focus was on developments in the former Soviet Union, especially wars in Georgia, Azerbaijan/Armenia, Tajikistan, and Moldova.

I edited reports from AP reporters worldwide and distributed them on regional and global newswires. Coverage included The Gulf War, the early phases of the Yugoslav wars, and the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

I covered a wide range of breaking news across the state, editing colleagues' copy, rewriting pickups from local newspapers, and generating original and enterprise reports. Coverage areas also included courts and local and national sports franchises.
