Senior Research Officer
CurrentSenior Hydrogeologist for the La Grange groundwater assessment project, a project funded by Royalties for Regions. Hydrogeological work principally involves:1 Review of the Broome Sandstone from existing data,2 Bore inventory, including surveying bores and collecting groundwater samples,3 Supervising drilling monitoring bores,4 Test pumping existing bores and5 Collecting groundwater samples for isotope analysis and dating.Senior Hydrogeologist for the Rural Towns – Liquid Assets program, a multi-agency project funded by local, state and commonwealth governments to improve water self-sustainabilty and control salinity and waterlogging in 15 rural wheatbelt towns. Hydrogeological work principally involves:• Assessment, planning and supervision of investigation and production bore drilling programs.• Supervising test pumping program and analysing test pumping data to determine aquifer parameters and predict water table drawdowns.• Optimization of production bore pumping rates to lower water tables in rural towns.• Monitoring groundwater levels in rural towns using dataloggers to see effect of production bore pumping.• Preparation of groundwater section of Water Management Plans with borefield operating strategies and groundwater treatment and/or disposal options.
