Boyd Machine has a rich history, with my Grandfather who started this business and then my father who continued the legacy. What started in the basement of a small ranch home, now has become a full fledged machine shop.I have been working here since 18 and have been apart of almost every role in the shop.listed in order, I have mastered: - Finishing department, which includes sanding, assembly, acid etch, and abrasive honing - Running a cnc machine, which requires attention to detail and holding dimensional tolerances with in .0005"(about half of a white blood cell) - Inspector, using manual measurement equipment as well as our CMM's that require an understanding in dimensional metrology- Set up machinist, where i had to setup tooling, make changes to macros and offsets, and optimize first time programs to bring down costs- Shop Forman / employee training, here I managed a nightshift crew of 7 people totally new to machining, and constructed a team that could keep up with customers needs- And finally to where i am today. As Director of operations, My Job is to schedule, Program, and innovate our current operations in the shop so that we can deliver precision parts on time to our valued customers. I also double as a value engineer. Using what I learned in mechanical engineering classes, along with my understanding of manufacturing, I am capable of working with engineers to take the most critical dimentions of their part, and turn it into a component that is easier to machine, helping them cut costs on the PO. Being 25 years old, and managing a crew of 30 people has been difficult for me. However my deep understanding of every facet of this business, paired with my leadership experience i gained from sports and being shop Forman, gives me confidence that my sister and I can take our business into the next generation.
