I represent the people of Norwalk and Darien and currently serve as Majority Leader of the CT State Senate.Known as one of those people with a “get ’er done” attitude, I rallied the legislature to create a package of assistance programs and reforms to reduce the number of home foreclosures in the state. With my colleagues, I also led the way in energy conservation and planning, historic preservation, consumer protection and transportation.Over my legislative career, I’ve been recognized as Community Action Senate Leader of the Year by the Connecticut Association for Community Action, named Outstanding Elected Official by the Public Housing Resident Network, awarded Legislator of the Year by the Connecticut Waterworks Association and the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters has honored me as an “Environmental Champion” for my environmental voting record.As your fiscal watchdog, I’ve championed Results-based Accountability, co-chairing a subcommittee that has saved Connecticut taxpayers by curbing government waste. My work has spurred other states to do the same. My public service passion began at the age of eight when I had written a letter to the mayor of Norwalk at the time, voicing my concern for the future of Duffy Field. We still have our Duffy Field, now renamed Veteran’s Park.After attending Norwalk Public Schools, I earned his degree in political science from Lynchburg College. In 2010, I returned to deliver the commencement address and was awarded a Doctorate of Humane Letters.I’ve always been champion of quality education serving as a substitute teacher in the Norwalk Public Schools from 1993 to 1995. Today I’m a real estate professional with William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty helping people buy and sell property for over 20 years.Tracey, my sons and I live in Norwalk.
