From investment banking and related experience, primarily at Morgan Stanley, I have deep expertise in multiple industries heavily affected by physical and transition climate risks and energy transition regulation. While in M&A, I advised clients on a wide range of industry-first transactions that foresaw the restructuring of the electric power industry. Next I became the senior manager of a cogeneration project developer. Returning to Morgan Stanley in distressed debt research, I led the first coverage of US independent power developers and US utility bankruptcies. I also led research for project financing firsts for power and infrastructure in China and Latin America. Following Morgan Stanley’s entry into bank lending, I ran counterparty credit risk management for the commodity trading divisions complex derivative and physical transactions and led the start of direct lending. I built best-in-class credit risk, fixed income research, and project teams. Complex project management included post-crisis regulatory project leadership at Morgan Stanley, regulatory consulting for Promontory/IBM, bankruptcy advisory, and electric power plant development.
