- Identified the unique roles of 3 distinct neuron types in temporal associative memory by applying supervised machine learning algorithms (SVM and ensemble LDA). I developed computational model containing large neural networks (30,000 randomly connected neurons) from biological facts using PythonThe mathematical model contained two coupled differential equations and stochastic differential equations (Ornstein–Uhlenbeck process). I wrote Bash scripts to use High Performance Computing System (Neuroscience Gateway) for running simulations. The results from these simulations were related back to the biological brain.

I modeled neurons in the spinal cord with conductance based computational neuron models (Morris-Lecar model) connected by bi-exponential excitatory and inhibitory synapses. I used the model to predict the outcome of chloride dysregulation inside neurons. The results matched experimental observations. I presented my results to the public on the Undergraduate Engineering Research day (UnERD 2015).

I worked in U of T iGEM team to create alternative method for bio containment. I preformed both wet lab experiments and computational simulations. I am familiar with general wet lab techniques and I am able to write code for mathematical model. For wet labs, I follow strict methodology and safety procedures. I am also able to learn quickly and apply my knowledge, critical thinking skills to achieve my goal.
