Architect/Director/Consulting Member Of Technical Staff/PmtsOracle Oct 2012 - PresentAustin, Texas, UsI worked at Oracle in 1994-1999 and then again from 2012 to the present.• Was invited in 2012 to re-join Oracle's advanced development Lab (after a long stint outside of Oracle) to architect what would become Oracle HeatWave: new scaled-out highly available in-memory columnar query execution engine for big data analytics (OLAP).• After HeatWave moved to Oracle Database Kernel group to architect and develop cloud scale distributed highly available strongly consistent in-memory transaction processing engine.• During earlier years at Oracle (1994-1999) led project on distributed cache coherency technology for Oracle data base kernel: CR Server and Cache Fusion. One of the patents (co-authored with R. Bamford) on CR Server was awarded ‘A Special Contribution to the Success of Oracle Corp’. This new technology provided a scalable, recoverable, write-back access to shared data. It became one of the fundamental blocks for Oracle RAC. The project dealt with the intricacies of Oracle RDBMS internals: row and block level locking, distributed lock management, consistent read, cache coherency mechanisms, recovery and high availability, versioning. As a result of the project, the performance overhead of distributed cache coherency in Oracle Parallel Server was reduced by a factor of 10. -
