Manager, Information Infrastructure/Operations
Promoted after only 2 months to the Manager of Information Infrastructure and Operations position, Brian became responsible for providing enterprise-level direction, planning, and management for all IS infrastructure, services, and systems within DAFWA. In this position, he expertly developed processes and protocols in support of a technical modernization that could support high levels of availability, continuity, capacity, and security across the IS environment. In less than 12 months, Brian had developed an interim disaster recovery plan and consulted leadership on an IT-based continuity plan; reduced budgetary costs by $75K per annum by replacing a legacy PC Management system; upgraded physical security for the Perth-based datacenter; and reformed corporate IT polices related to security, acceptable use, mobile computing, and social media access.
Manager, Information Service Desk
Brian was initially hired by the DAFWA to serve as their Information Service Desk Manager. In this role, he was charged in providing daily oversight of the organization's IS Service Desk team, associated services, and systems. Over a 2 month period, Brian was able to create stability by standardizing processes across multiple, geographically-dispersed locations; advocated for a culture of transparency and accountability by initiating the agency’s first-ever customer satisfaction survey; optimized their service desk capacity by establishing guidelines for hiring new staff members; and rationalized and audited a Common Use Agreement to minimize the utilization of costly external vendors.

In 2010, Brian was selected to serve as the primary conduit between two State Government Departments and the DSD in the development and deployment of strategic IT initiatives related to the management of infrastructure support and corporate system services. In this role, he oversaw a 6-figure budget, 175 full-time employees, and 50 external contractors. He not only optimized strategic growth for the ICT organization by project-managing system implementations and upgrading service level expectations but also managed all assets in compliance with governing regulations. He was also able to institute new policies and procedures to support identified growth models to include the identification and establishment of core software requirements.
Service Desk Technical Team Leader
Hired as a contractor in 2003, Brian worked performing Tier 1 and 2 support as a Desktop technician. From 2005 to 2010, Brian served as a Service Desk Technical Team lead for Western Australia's Department of Mines and Petroleum. In this role, he was responsible for managing a team of 10 technology and training professionals, all tasked in supporting 900 end-users within the organization. In addition to project-managing large-scale implementations, he designed and maintained documentation on technical system and application configurations by enabling physical and logical SOE attachments to the Corporate WAN; administered the Microsoft Exchange and Cisco Call Management systems; wrote automated deployment and configuration scripts; identified and tested software and hardware ICT requirements/enhancements; configured active directory group policy objects; and managed the advanced troubleshooting of enterprise-level operating systems and network software.

In 2002, Brian was hired by Nimrod Computer Services where he was responsible for designing networks, performing security audits, and implementing server and infrastructure hardware/software configurations for network devices.
