Senior Product Manager, M365 Cloud Security
CurrentBuilding tools, processes, and governance to ensure the security of Microsoft’s digital platforms, devices, and clouds – both internally, and across the industry.
Senior Product Manager, Developer Platform
Strategy and execution for Autodesk's internal developer platform, serving 450+ internal teams/services and running ~60k monthly deployments of cloud applications & infrastructure (containers/Kubernetes, VMs, AI/ML and data pipelines, databases, and more). We make Autodesk engineers more productive by automating developer workflows, to make it easier to build, deploy, and manage cloud applications that are scalable, secure, and compliant.I own the roadmap and strategy for Cloud Deployments. I talk to our users (Autodesk engineers) to understand their needs, prioritize it based on our existing product and company-level goals, and create a roadmap to communicate our intentions to users & stakeholders. Then I collaborate with a cross-functional "triad" -- engineering, architecture, UX -- to define *how* we'll solve these problems, and when (leading delivery planning for ~40 engineers). Highlights:1) Increased usage by 90% and satisfaction by 55% in 2023 by solving user needs! Conducted user research (in partnership with UX team), categorized & prioritized the feedback, then just *improved* the issues (for example: better global coverage from our Support team, or automating SSL cert renewals). 2) Eliminated ~5 monthly production outages by automating SSL cert renewals. Previously this was a manual yearly process, so engineers would *forget* a step, creating a risk of service downtime. 3) Improved developer experience by adding self-service tools (replacing Jira tickets and face-to-face meetings with automation in ServiceNow), which reduced onboarding from days to minutes.
Senior Product Manager, Autodesk Drive
Autodesk Drive provides cloud storage as a subscription benefit for Autodesk customers. It had 250,000 MAU (Monthly Active Users) when I was on the team. This collaboration tool was especially important during that phase of the pandemic (2020-2022), since most architecture & engineering firms still host their data on-premise.I owned the roadmap & strategic direction, delivery planning, stakeholder alignment, and success metrics (active users, retention cohorts, uploads in first 7 days, etc) In September 2021, I was "promoted" (same title) to fill the position in Developer Platform -- a larger team with a wider scope of responsibility. I covered both roles for 4 months while they found my backfill.
Senior Product Manager
I owned the internal B2B2C login & registration platform, used by 50+ Nike teams to handle 700k daily logins/registrations by end-users. Our drop-in SDK (Web, Android, iOS) and end-user UX saved *thousands* of hours for engineering teams -- we solved problems centrally (e.g. privacy, security, branding), so they can focus on their unique "zone of genius" (like eCommerce).I ran the entire stack of PM work: talking to users, influencing & engaging stakeholders (Legal, Privacy, Brand), Agile Scrum process, strategy & roadmaps, evaluating technical tradeoffs, and defining A/B tests.A few achievements:1) Tripled logged-in users on Nike.com (6% to 18%). Led a task force from five departments to identify long-standing issues with no clear ownership, then drove the work to fix it. Resulted in better UX (no more random logouts) and more revenue (via better personalization).2) Created our A/B testing practice. I wanted to *prove* the value of our changes, so I made it happen: wrote a business case, secured stakeholder buy-in on de-prioritizing other work, and drove engineering through vendor selection, development, and launch. Then I built a backlog of testing ideas. This resulted in high conversion rate, by saving us from unexpected impacts (e.g. decreased login conversion from seemingly-innocent text changes).3) Replaced a vendor tool on Nike.com (email marketing sign-up) by expanding our existing login platform. I designed the full solution (validating with my colleagues, of course), then drove delivery across 4 departments. This improved our privacy (kept user data in-house) and saved money (canceled SaaS contract).4) Removed social login, a previously "core" feature. I realized (product sense) it no longer had positive ROI, so I worked for months to align colleagues on my perspective. When a catalyst event happened (privacy changes by Apple, which reduced its usefulness), the final decision was *easy*, since everyone was already aligned.
Product Manager
Promoted from PM to Senior PM in 2018. Same team & product, more responsibility.
Associate Product Manager
Hired as the Agile Scrum Product Owner, but I added more responsibilities when our Senior PM left the team. Promoted from Associate PM to PM in 2017.
Product Owner
HealthSparq (acquired by Kyruus Health) was spun out from my old Regence team to generate new revenue from existing products. We expanded our healthcare web tools (for 2 million people at 1 customer) into a B2B2C SaaS platform for 50 million people at 50 customersThis created value for all 3 parties: end-users (save money on medical care), customers (reduce overall spend on insurance, since users choose lower-cost options), and HealthSparq (revenue!). I was the agile scrum product owner for Cost Estimators and other web tools: * Customer requirements: meet with enterprise customers to understand their use cases.* Execution: write user stories; break into actionable tasks with engineers; prioritize backlog; Agile operations.* Distributed team operations: partner with Senior PM (remote) to guide local dev team and update the roadmap.
Technical Account Manager
Customer relationship owner during the implementation process (several months long) for our SaaS products. Quickly found an opportunity to move into Product Management, fulfilling a long-term career goal.
Senior Technical Lead
Janrain (acquired by Akamai) was a fast-paced, high-growth startup. We built a SaaS platform to help companies manage login & registration for their end-users. I guided engineering teams through deploying & integrating our products. My goal was to help them...1) Deploy *sooner*, so we could recognize revenue earlier. 2) Deploy *better* -- making their customers (our end-users) more successful, and increasing our chances of renewing the annual contract.I also supported third-party partners, with the goal of raising the *value* of our products. I provided training, design review, and best practices to 50+ partners; and I reviewed & formally certified the first formal product extensions via our Partner API. I also used my deep customer knowledge to find other opportunities for Janrain: identified upsell opportunities for account managers; showed feature gaps to product managers; covered for Solutions Engineers on sales calls; and more.
Software Engineer Ii
Full-stack software developer, building web products for 2 million Regence customers. If you're thinking "Why did you work in insurance?" -- I hadn't planned on it! But during my summer internship at Regence, I developed a deep passion for their mission: "To reduce the tyranny of healthcare waste & confusion". Those some strong words, but I really connected with them. I used that summer for networking and informational interviews, finally landing this engineering job. I built web tools -- UI, content management, backend, databases -- for individual consumers (like you and me) on Regence.com. We empowered people with tools & information to make better healthcare decisions, like treatment cost estimators, doctor quality ratings, discussion forums, clear explanations of deductibles & coinsurance, and more. Our motto was "transparency", which was an unfortunately atypical attitude in this industry. Technical skills:* Languages: Java, Javascript, Python, Objective-C, SQL, CSS, HTML* Technologies: jQuery, JSP, Apache Struts, Tomcat, Spring (unit testing), Github* Other: Agile Scrum, test-driven development, iOS app development, content management.
Software Engineer I
Promoted from Engineer 1 to Engineer 2 in 2010.
Intern
Project management, technical support & training, organizing events.
Co-Op Software Engineer
Co-op engineer (intern) during final term of college classes. C#, Python, web development, Windows, CI/CD.
It Helpdesk Supervisor (Student)
Tech support for student laptops & university classroom equipment. Promoted to supervisor during Senior year - trained other students on process & technical skills, and handled "Tier 2" escalations for the hardest problems.
Engineering Intern
Write scripts to test hard drive controllers. Benchmark results against competitors, and share them in a testing web page (to share with remote colleagues). Software skills: C, Bash, Linux, HTML, Javascript.
