BDCA is a local charity based in East London with a turnover of £600k p/a and employing a staff team of 40. Structured as a charity and a company limited by guarantee, BDCA works to make a real and lasting difference to the quality of life of the people in our community by providing accessible services and facilities which meet their needs. We run The Well Community Centre and Flanders Playing Field for community benefit. We seek to help those most in need and run specialist projects which benefit young people, children , families, elderly people and carers. My main responsibilities as CEO are:•To oversee and manage all aspects of operation of BDCA, including the effectivemanagement of financial, operational, human resources and information management functions.• To develop the long term sustainability of the organisation, maximising earned income and securing funding from statutory and non statutory sources.•To give leadership and convey the organisations vision to all the staff and volunteers•To represent BDCA to stake-holders and funding partners including the local authority.•To develop partnerships in order to maximise the effectiveness of BDCA.•To lead the strategic development of BDCA in line with its aims and objectives, values, ethos and policies.•To ensure that all programmes, services and products are planned to maximise the benefits of the operations to all stakeholders, within both the local and wider community.Key achievements- Leading a £2m regeneration of a playing field in Newham,- Increasing the organisations earned income by 60% in 5 years - Achieving grant income generation of £250k per year- Successfully leading a change management process to support long term sustainability

Working to develop community sport and physical activity in the locality. Specific priorities included working to increase sports participation, supporting and developing clubs and raising funds to support both activity and facility development. A particular focus of my job was to work closely with Newham Council to bring back into full community use a recently derelict 9 acre playing field site in the heart of East Ham. This involved developing a full programme of activity and working with partners to secure £1.2 million of capital resources towards the development of a new community pavilion. The site is now used 7 days a week with several thousand users each year.Key achievements• Helping to secure £950k grant from the Football Foundation•Development of cross sector partnership to ensure effective delivery of project, including local authority, Sport England, Football Foundation, Essex County Cricket Board, Essex Football Association, Community groups, clubs and residents. •Delivery of all key sports participation targets required by funders, including transforming site from no usage to over 6,000 users per year.

Managing a wide range of capital building projects at Newham schools, including all aspects of project and financial management. Managed project portfolios of over £1m and was also responsible for monitoring sections budgets and advising on premises health & safety matters.
