Sudbury - Clarabelle Mill

• Lead a team of staff and unionized employees to meet or exceed production targets (220,000 tonnes of copper concentrate and 420,000 tonnes of nickel concentrate) with respect to tonnage, quality, and recovery
• Responsible for coordination of ore delivery strategy (5 Vale mines and several external ores) to optimize blend and productivity
• Work in alignment with Vale’s HomeSafe safety program and provincial OH&S regulations to meet safety and production targets
• Provide guidance to technical team to ensure plant needs are being satisfied
• Work with union representatives and stewards while managing USW employees within CBA
• Develop production schedules to meet business commitments in conjunction with plant maintenance strategies

Voisey's Bay

• Lead a team comprising of both the Operations and Technical groups to ensure short, medium, and long-term safety, production, cost, and quality metrics are met and develop strategies to ensure sustainable success with.
• Annual production targets of 60,000 tonnes of copper concentrate and 200,000 tonnes of nickel concentrate
• Focus on achieving operational excellence with ‘Vale Production Systems’, modelled from the Toyota Production System management philosophy
• Collaborate with recruitment team and act as hiring manager throughout hiring process
• Develop annual budgets and forecasts to the end of mine life in collaboration with maintenance, logistics, mine, production planning, and customer workgroups
• Ensure mill operations supervisors, operating crews, and technical group members are accountable for adherence to relevant safety regulations, policies, procedures, and quality standards as well as the applicable.

Sudbury - Clarabelle Mill

• Lead a crew of unionized employees on a rotating day/night schedule to ensure safety, quality, and production targets are being met. Responsible for the tailings area during night and weekend shifts
• Directed team with safety as the highest priority through the application of the HomeSafe model; including but not limited to the development of JHAs, risk management reviews, daily safety lineups, “Stop and Correct”.
• Resolved crew member conflicts through private discussions, involvement of Human Resources and, if required, the grievance hearing program
• Coordinated work with maintenance, electrical, instrument, and process technology support groups to ensure the necessary short to medium-term work was being completed meet production requirements
• Operate the plant as DCS supervisor

Copper Cliff - Furnaces

Supported the furnaces with the Process Technology team at the Copper Cliff Smelter Complex. This role comprised both project work and operational support. Projects included matte level control methods and the commissioning of new process equipment. P.Eng. accreditation was received during this period.

Sudbury - Clarabelle Mill

Provide technical assistance to operations to achieve concentrate quality and process efficiency targets as well as develop and implement strategies to improve metallurgical recoveries for Clarabelle's 40,000 tpd capacity operation.

Port Colborne And Sudbury

Involved in two commissioning projects which met or exceeded production targets with a total of 0 injuries related to all individuals involved. Time was divided between the on-site cobalt and precious metals refineries.Acted as shift lead and primary commissioning lead backup for the 13 MM USD TUS precious metals project at Port Colborne's Precious Metals.

Oakville

Worked in the Autoclave Technology Group providing support with respect to process design studies, flow sheet development and reviewal, mass and energy balances and research.

Kingston

Researched, constructed apparati and ran experiments for major mining corporations with the lead metallurgist. Developed and completed final reports for client companies.Completed two summer work terms with KPM (2009 and 2010).
