Started at NZLL as a workshop assistant then worked my way into a apprenticeship that I completed while I was there while i was there i had to problem solve machine issues in a wide range of equipment, this included heavy machinery, hydraulics and pneumatics. Machine monitoring was a great part of the job which included setting up all tannery equipment to close tolerances to create world class leather that was sold to the likes of Prada and Gucci

I started as a machine operator but coming from an automotive background was interested in the machines so took a strong interest in them and how they operate, After a while, my interest got acknowledged by the fellow maintenance fitters and my name got put forward for a job opportunityworking here gave me great experience in wool manufacturing and equipment operation from wool turning up from the scour to finished product. I enjoyed my time there but the plant closed down so we dismantled the plant to be shipped overseas
